Newspaper and magazine photographers will gather poignant stories of impoverished Americans for a traveling multimedia exhibit, opening Thanksgiving week in Chicago.

AMERICANPOVERTY.ORG is a non-profit alliance of photojournalists using visual storytelling to raise awareness about poverty in the United States, dispel inaccurate and destructive stereotypes about poor people and encourage action that can create lasting impact in the lives of disadvantaged people.
